Humans’ greatest motivator within history has been fear. The list of fears could fill several volumes of text. From phobias to the fear of death, this mainstay governor on our behavior keeps individuals from action while motivating others to movement. So far reaching into our past is fear we rarely understand exactly how fear as a psychological and behavioral mechanism has altered our societies in so many ways. We fear what we cannot, do not understand, or cannot accept. What makes fear so powerful? Why does fear control us in such a divisive way? These are not easy questions to answer. Entire fields of study exist primarily to not only study fear but eliminate it. To say that a simple essay would be able to make such a topic concise would be folly. Therefore, we limit our base to the behavioral mechanics of fear. The basic fundamentals and how these fundamentals continue to affect lives. We will then provide a set of building blocks upon which individuals, groups, and cultures react to fear.
