ENVIRONMENT DEGRADATION ON LAND IN ENYIGBA WITH REFERENCE TO ARTISAN LEAD-ZINC MINER IN SOUTH EASTERN NIGERIA.
This paper is gear towards the effect of lead-zinc mine at Enyigba, this mining activity has led to the excavation of the top soil in other to harness the economic minerals at the subsurface. Such activities release some particulate matter into the atmosphere, produce noise and also degrade farm lands. Such mining pits if not reclaimed, can cause varieties of health-related hazards and threat to the environments. Such as accumulation of hazardous and explosive gases, use of it as industrial dumping, posing a danger from unsanitary conditions. Government should enact laws to control illegal mining within an area.
